Introduction
An Oracle Applications Implementation requires careful planning and execution of numerous tasks. An Oracle
Implementation typically represents a significant investment in any organization’s Information Technology (IT)
budget. Implementations demand the commitment of a great deal of people and resources, all of which are
crucial factors in the project’s success. However, the Consulting Project Manager (CPM) has a key role in the
project because he or she is responsible for coordinating the schedules and tasks of the entire team. Considering
that the team is usually composed of people with different backgrounds and from different companies, this
role’s level of difficulty should not be underestimated. Consequently, the Consulting Project Manager role
cannot be assigned to someone who does not have the appropriate skills and knowledge required to effectively
manage the project.
The objective of this white paper is to provide Project Managers with some guidance, and to offer an outline of
considerations to be given before starting any project. Each project has its own characteristics, so certain points
