I look out the window
Over a sea of murky orange and red
As the leaves on their vines
Change color with the season
In the distance is a face
A face, familiar
I know that face
Slowly details become clear
The azure eyes - like the sea at first dawn
After a story night
The tanned skin - the sun has never been so kind
To skin as to make its features so beautiful
Next to me is an empty seat
One that will stay empty
Whether I want it to or not
No one knows me: I'm invisible to the senses
Trees surround me
A forest of - not trees
A forest of people
A forest of faces
One stands out from the rest
The one in the distance
Over the ocean of earthen colors
The only one that sees "me"
The powerful arms - strong enough to lift the world
Unknown to man, hidden amongst the leaves
The muscled legs - rooted to the earth that is not
Actually earth, but the remains of a broken heart underfoot
I sit here alone
Trying to put a name to the face over the sea
And to the body of a tree
