“A Case for the Pro-Life Stance on Abortion”
Over 40 million babies have been legally aborted since 1972. In 1972, the case of Roe versus Wade was brought to the Supreme Court and it is one of the most controversial issues involving women’s civil right. The case dealt with the right to choose to have an abortion to end a pregnancy. Most feminist groups supported this case since women felt it was their body and their choice whether to have a baby or not. It is not a choice it is a child, and it is wrong and cruel. Abortion is the murder of an innocent baby and should be illegal in the United States.
Abortion is the termination of pregnancy before the baby is capable of independent life. Therefore, it is the termination of a person’s life. Abortion ends a pregnancy by destroying and disposing of the developing child. It stops the beating of an innocent child's heart, which has already begun to beat after 18-25 days after conception. Most abortions occur between 6-10 weeks. At the time in the baby’s life all parts of the brain and spinal cord are formed, the heart pumps blood to every part of the body, the whole body is sensitive to touch, and facial expressions are made.
In Tennessee, abortions are legal and anyone can receive one at a Planned Parenthood office very easily. For girls under 18 a parent is required unless the girl gets a judicial bypass, which allows the girl to undergo the abortion without parent consent. The nurses at Planned Parenthood give the girls the information they need in order to receive a judicial bypass. It is absurd that a 16 year old girl can go into an abortion clinic and receive an abortion without her parent’s consent. Abortions at Planned Parenthood range from $375-$525 and appointments can be made over the phone. Americans work hard to pay for their taxes and the government spends their tax money on funding facilities that kill future Americans.
Different type of abortions includes surgical, chemical, and partial birth. The most common surgical abortions are vacuum aspiration which is performed with a machine that uses a vacuum to suck the baby out of the uterus. Another surgical type is dilation and curettage in this procedure the mother's cervix is dilated and a curette which a long rod is scraped along the sides of the uterus to dislodge the baby. In some cases, if the surgical process goes wrong a doctor will take forceps and crush the baby’s head in order to kill it. It is hard to imagine a respectable medical professional crushing a baby’s head.
There are many types of chemical abortions. Mifepristone, a chemical used, causes the baby to become detached from its mother's uterus. The chemical is toxic to the baby and kills it in the mother’s womb. Sadly, the baby is born dead. Another chemical form of chemical abortion is salt poisoning. For this procedure, a long needle is inserted into the mother’s abdomen and a strong salt solution is injected into the amniotic fluid. The salt is swallowed or breathed in by the child. This slowly poisons the baby and
