A Hidden Truth in the City of Omelas
Today, we are gathered here in the court room to bring you the case of the people who live in the city of Omelas. The city has kept a dark and gruesome hidden truth, which in their mind; it’s to maintain the happiness of their city. I would like to tell you, the jury, a story of a child that was kept locked up in a basement to suffer. This child has been abused mentally and physically that it has become an imbecile due to such cruelty. It appears to me, that the people of Omelas may be somewhat of a religious cult. Why do I think that? Well, because no city in its right mind would do such a thing. Why must one child suffer, so the rest of the city can be happy? That does not make sense at all. There must be a cult leader within the city that inputs that kind of influence on the people. I will introduce evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that you will find the Defendants guilty of child abuse and cruelty
