A Mothers Worst Nightmare

On a very cold March day my son Garrett and my daughter Jordan were playing ball in our backyard when Garrett’s ball went into the neighbor’s yard. Garrett proceeded to go into their yard to get the ball not realizing how long their dog’s chain was. The dog lunged forward and grabbed Garrett by the back of his jacket and pulled him in and then proceeded to viciously attack him.

This colossal fury wolf like dog began to assail my feeble little boy. While running out to save my motionless child, screams from a distance, “Help”, “Help My Brother” stood my panic-stricken daughter. Please let me call my husband? “I will do that for you” the operator replied. Within 5 minutes the police arrived to help me with Garrett. The officer said let’s take a look. The officer removed the towel from his face and said “We need to get him to the hospital”.

The ambulance finally showed up and began to check Garrett from head to toe. They removed his saturated bloody winter coat to find out that he had bit him on his back, neck and tore his ear lobe off. My son’s perfect face was the worse spot. His lip had a
