Essay title: Alt Energy

Wind energy is very simply put as the conversion of wind into electricity. The way that the wind is converted is by using large towers with turbine blades attached to them. As the wind blows and rotates the turbine blade that’s when electricity is being created. The electricity is being converted by the rotations of the blades and sending the energy created as electric currents through large conductors to an electric generator. Then from the generator the electricity is then sent to the power plants when the electricity is distributed to the city or town the wind farm is located.

A wind farm is a farm that has crops of wind towers that are creating clean renewable and safe energy and does not destroy our earth to do it. The United states have wind farms in about 10 states some on sore and an off shore state. The onshore states are Oregon, Minnesota, and all over the Midwest. The off sore state is Florida. The united states is third in the world for producing electricity, we produced more then 10,000 gigawatt-hours which is the equivalent of 5,000 hours of electricity that is created using fossil fuels. Even though that sounds like we are producing a large amount of electricity, we produce 10,000gigawatt-hours which only supplies 0.3% of the United States population. The world leader in wind power is Germany and they produce twice the amount of wind power that the U.S. does.

Though wind power is in its first hundred years of development we have come along way it creating a safe, clean, and renewable energy source for the world. Wind power sounds like a good idea but wind power is not for everyone, wind power can only be harvested in areas where wind speed is 10mph or greater of non-turbulent winds. Think can we put wind power in our backyard, and do our part to help out the environment and make this world cleaner for future generations.

Where as wind power depends on the winds there is another renewable power that depends on the sun, solar power. Solar power is the technology of obtaining energy from the light of the
