Essay title: Apple’s New Ipods

Look whose here, Again!

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better

One thing that Apple is good at, is keeping things a secret. Everyone wants to know what’s up their sleep and the rumors just keep growing. I think that’s a good thing, because when the time is right, they unveil to this innocent world something so unexpected and beautiful, all that can be heard for miles and miles are “oohs” and “aahs”.

Now take the Apple iPod for instance, the undisputed champion of MP3 players. October, 2001 saw the launch of this revolutionary product which took over the world in no time at all. It was then that the “i” era started. Every gadget company in world was convinced that if they put the letter “i” in front of the name, it made the device twice as cool.

In these six years that have passed we have seen this 8th wonder of the world, get nothing but better. But somehow making over 110 million people happy is a little too less for Apple.

So lets see, what does the iPod (video) still lack; hmmm… maybe the screen size could be bigger. And...Umm… maybe I would like to browse the internet on it! Ooh ohh.. and what about a touch screen interface!!

Now wait a minute (it would be cool, if there was a scratch disk sound in the background just as you read this), before we go any further with our “wild” imagination, let me re-introduce to you, and I say “re” because I’m sure you’ve already heard of the unanimously crowned gadget-god, the iPhone.

Whatever one could wish for in a portable gadget has been listened to carefully by our dear dear friends at Apple and has been brought to us in the form of the iPhone. Now I’m not here to tell you about that, not because the iPhone isn’t worth talking about but because its old news now, believe me; that’s how fast the tech world moves.

iPod Touch

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you, iPod Touch. It’s everything that the iPod classic (that’s the name that they’ve given to the original iPod video) was, is and ever will be. Well the last part is not true of course, but you’ll soon know what I mean.

First thing that one can notice is that it looks exactly like the iPhone. In fact it actually works just like the iPhone. For the people who are technologically retarded (no offence) and have no idea about the iPhone, well, the iPhone is only the most advance piece of heavy machinery (phone vise) compacted into a hand set; an iPod which makes calls and more, if you will.

Anyways, getting back to the Touch, it’s called so for obvious reasons, it gives you the ability to control everything you do on your iPod with a multi-touch user interface (similar to the iPhone). So you can now pinch (zoom in/out) through your photos, browse through your music collection or videos, just by moving your finger across the screen.

"The iPod touch is a landmark iPod, ushering in a whole new generation of features based on its revolutionary multi-touch interface and built-in Wi-Fi wireless networking," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "People are going to be amazed at how thin it is and how much it does."

With its stunning 3.5-inch widescreen display, iPod Touch is great for watching movies and TV shows, as well as screening photos and album art. This is a big deal for video enthusiasts for two main reasons, one being the fact that it’s a widescreen, which is now the most widely used format for videos, so say good-bye to those ugly black bars on the top and bottom of your screen, and second, the fact that its 3.5 inches. Everybody wanted a bigger screen, so here it is.

It uses flash drives rather than hard disks, which are much faster and less power consuming. Now the main limiting factor about flash
