Essay title: Cats

Like something in fashion, there is a trend in most parts of the world to impart or demand for imparting sex education to youngsters in school. I say like a fashion, because everybody wants to do, as others are doing without looking at the pros and cons of it. Sex education is said to prevent the children against promiscuity, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/Aids and sexual violation. England and America are in sex education in schools and many others have followed. But it does not seem to have solved any of the problems much. One needs to review the prevalent situation.

Countries which started sex education much earlier and those following them have a high incidence of teenage pregnancies. One is tempted to think once they learn the theory, they are very keen to do the practical. A boy and girl come together just because of physical attraction with no true commitment towards one another. The child conceived is born of lust. The father shakes off his responsibility even before the child is born, even disowns it. The young mother has no true attachment towards the child and even considers it as a nuisance. She looks for a friend or relative to take over the child. With no means of her own she seeks social assistance to help in the upbringing of the child. The boy can restart his life but for the girl mostly it is the end of her education and her dream career. Most of these girls end up taking small time jobs or even prostitution.

When these "educated" children grow up and get married, mutual trust which forms the basis of a sound marriage is lacking. Both husband and wife know that since they and the other one has done it without marriage, they always view one another suspiciously. Since they were indulging in sex from before, they lack the charm for it which comes with waiting for the right age and time that is after marriage.

In many cases one or both partners have done it so many times before that they cease to have any interest in it after growing up. This results in impotence and frigidity. Therefore drugs and magical cures for impotence sell like hot cakes. The overall result of this is broken marriages.

Sexual violation and rape is as prevalent as in primitive times in most of the world, maybe except in countries where severe capital punishment is meted out for such a crime. The punishment is the deterrent; nobody can say that because of sex education young men have become mature enough not to defile girls.

If the progress of HIV is controlled in the western world it is because of good public awareness of the deadly nature of the disease created by the government and better health facilities. All this has nothing to do with sex education in schools.

Student life is the period of life for building up one's personality and career. This entails studying and learning with total devotion. Many an adult say with regret
