Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing is a local MNC owned by Singapore Technologies and Temasek Holdings. She has her headquarters and production based in Singapore and has offices in United States, United Kingdoms, France, Germany, Taiwan, China and Japan. These offices worldwide are staffed with approximately 5,000 staffs to service the customers around the world.

Chartered is one of the world’s top dedicated semiconductor foundries, offers leading-edge technologies down to 90 nanometer (nm), enabling today’s system-on-chip designs. The company further serves the needs of customers through its collaborative, joint development approach on a technology roadmap that extends to 32nm.

Chartered’s strategy is based on open and comprehensive design enablement solutions, manufacturing enhancement methodologies, and a commitment to flexible sourcing. In Singapore, the company operates 5 wafer fabrication plants (see Figure 1), of which 4 of them (Fab 2, 3, 5 and 6) provides 200mm facilities and Fab 7, is leading the current market technology with 300mm wafer fabrication.

Chartered production facilities in Singapore are certified to meet ISO 9001 standards and she has further achieved certification for ISO/TS16949 in May 2005. Commonly referred to as TS2, this certification is currently considered to be one of the most comprehensive quality standards in the industry. Both ISO 9001 and TS2 involve stringent periodic third-party review and verification of the production processes and quality procedures. These certifications demonstrate Chartered’s commitment to offer the highest quality standards to customers.
