It is common knowledge that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Logic then infers that in order for this crucial meal to be properly attributed, it ought to include the best food there is. Cheerios, introduced in 1941, have withstood the test of time and continue to charm one generation after another. The classic taste of these savoury morsels satisfies individuals of all ages. Not only do toddlers love to munch on this perfect snack food, adults cannot resist the crunch and simple pleasure Cheerios provide. The delicious quality of Cheerios is not only in its taste, but its nutritional value as well. Since they provide a healthy way to begin the day, taste great in countless recipes and are a favourite among children, there is no food that can compare with the one and only Cheerios.

It is important to eat a balanced breakfast in the morning because the body cannot function efficiently without any energy after fasting all night. Studies have shown that children who eat a balanced breakfast including whole grains perform better at school than those who do not (Mills). Children who eat cereal also have higher intakes of calcium, iron, zinc, vitamin A, vitamin B and vitamin C. Cheerios are made with whole grains which retain all three parts of the grain kernel; the fibre-rich bran, the starchy endo-sperm and the nutrient-packed germ. When it comes to grains, the less refined, the better, which is why Cheerios are unbeatable. Cheerios is the only leading cold cereal that has been clinically proven to lower blood cholesterol levels when eaten as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol. There are no artificial flavours or colours in Cheerios, just the whole grain goodness of oats. Among the fourteen essential vitamins and minerals that Cheerios contain are calcium, iron, folic acid and fibre. There are a limited amount of cereals that contain more fibre than sugar, but Cheerios is one of them. With only one gram of sugar per serving, Cheerios are an excellent source of long-lasting energy. Cereals high in sugar content cause a peak in blood-glucose levels which is followed by a spike in insulin levels. In a study done of over 16, 000 adults, researchers concluded that those who ate cold breakfast cereal had a tendency to weigh less that those who did not (Mills). The nutritional benefits that Cheerios offer make it the perfect choice for the most important meal of the day.

Not only are cheerios the perfect mate for milk in the morning, they can be enjoyed all day long. The rich flavour of the whole grain oat cereal is the perfect base or partner for everything from strawberries and bananas to peanuts and popcorn. Sweet-tooth cravings can be satisfied by mixing Cheerios with honey and peanut butter to make crunchy squares. Crushed Cheerios serve as an excellent substitute for oats in traditional homemade baked good recipes such as banana-oat muffins or cookies. Rice Krispie squares will become virtually extinct when marshmallows realize that Cheerios make a much better companion. Yet Cheerios are not limited by their naturally sweet disposition.
