David Suzuki's Biography

David Takayoshi Suzuki was born March 24, 1936 in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada. David had 3 siblings Marcia, Geraldine, and Dawn. David's grandparents immigrated to Canada in the beginning of the 20th century. During the Second World War when he was six his family suffered internment. The government sold their dry-cleaning business while family members went to labour camps. After the war his family was forced to move to the east coast in London, Ontario.

In school David became Student Council President. After High School David received his Bachelor's of Arts from Amherst College in Massachusetts in 1958 and in 1961 his Doctor of Philosophy in Zoology from the University of Chicago.

Early in his research career he studied genetics and organisms. Then he was a genetic professor at the University of British Columbia and has been until his retirement in 2001. He has been presented with 22 honorary degrees for his work in science and environmental issues. David Suzuki began in television in 1970 with the weekly show named "Suzuki on Science" a children's show. Then he hosted "Quirks and Quarks" on CBC radio from 1975 to 1979.Also the stared in many of the Science magazines. David has supported renewable energy and being eco-friendly which involved different shows like "The Nature of things", "The Secret of Life",
