The assassination of an Archduke was known to be the start of World War I . Seuss was only ten years of age. He did not take part in the fighting because he was too young, although many of his fellow towns people fought for our country.
In 1945, the first color television was introduced in the US. When this included coast-to-coast live television became possible. Thousands upgraded the old black and whites to color ones. Seuss’ family purchased one also. It gave Seuss time to view what others did with their talent.
Sputnik was the first satellite launched in 1957 by the Soviet Union. The satellite was about the size of a basketball, weighed 183 pounds, and took 98 minutes to orbit from earth into space. This was a big deal for the whole world. Many people took interest in trying to make better satellite to top the Soviet Union’s Sputnik.
