Essay title: Ehtical Development
EHTICAL DEVELOPMENT
MY FOUR TALENTS/STRENGTHS.
1. Athletic
2. Team Player
3. Perseverance
4. Loyal
The parable of the talents found in Matthew chapter 25 verses 14 -30, tells the tale of three servants who received talents of money from their master. The master issued five talents to one servant, two talents to another and the remaining servant received only one talent of money. The servants who received five talents and two talents were able to double their talents and were praised by their master for doing so. The servant who received one talent on the other hand did nothing and was reprimanded by the master.
I believe that I am like the first two servants and have been able to double the talents that I initially received.
Throughout my school life, starting from prep school till presently at the University of Technology, I have always engaged in some athletic sport. Football, swimming, netball or track and field for example, you name it and I was apart of it. Even though I was talented in all sports, my main focus at around the age of seven was track and field. During the remaining years of prep school and throughout my entire high school life I was apart of the school track and field team. It is during this period that I was able to ‘double’ or increase my talents. During this period I learnt to be a team player, to persevere and to be loyal. These three things that I have learnt as well as my athletic ability can be considered as my talents and strengths.
My athletic ability can be beneficial to my community in that it brings out my strengths and talents. As a member of the St Andrew Prep and High school track and field team I learnt that there was no ‘I’ in team. I learnt that each individual was essential to the success of the team. This lesson, this ability to be a team player is essential in aiding my community and country. This ability ensures that I will not think of how my actions will affect myself but the community at large.
