Essay title: Eliza’s Charater

Eliza’s character changes in several respects throughout the play, but her core nature remains the same. In act one she appears as hard working and independent, this remains true through out the play. She does become less independent but she always remains true to her “good girl” personality.

Eliza is first portrayed as the flower girl, she is sassy and can not speak properly. She lives independently.. She does what it takes to support herself, but she will not sell herself. She is a very respectable character and unlike most women of her day she supports herself . Eliza is a good girl and does not let anyone question her about it.

Eliza is interested when Higgins says he could make her a lady in a flower shop, and she begins to dream. She goes to speak with him and this is when her physical changes start to happen. When all the dirt and grim is removed she is seen as beautiful, and even unrecognizable. Her clothes are burnt and she lives at the house with Higgins. She no longer has anything of her own.
