Essay title: Evaluation of Process

Drama Evaluation

What are some of the challenges faced by your group in the rehearsal period?

One of the main problems we had as a group was being able to have everyone at every rehearsal everyone had other commitments. Also there were times when the group was not able to come to a universal decision.

Both of the problems were solved, firstly by allocating specific days that we had to rehearse so people were able to change their plans accordingly. This helped as we had most of our piece done by the first two weeks and after that we spent time polishing our performance. Secondly we used some time to act out both ideas to see which would work best, if the decision was still too difficult to make we voted to see what we should do. This non-argumentative way of reaching decisions is what made sure we had our piece done well before the performance date.

What were the members' strengths and weaknesses?

There was a strength that everyone had; the strength to work cooperatively and listen to each other. This helped in reaching decisions and not wasting time arguing about certain parts of the piece. Busra was good at contributing to the group, especially when it came to difficult situations. Chandeep and Omar were also good at generating ideas. Juspreet and Alex came up with a few ideas too but were better at taking one idea and developing it. Chandeep was helpful as she took it upon herself to make the mobile that we needed for one of our scenes, and Omar took it upon himself to make costumes for everyone which saved everyone making their own so it was helpful.

The weaknesses I think were sometimes certain people in the group were less enthusiastic about the rehearsals. There were times when the group lacked the enthusiasm to continue practicing. But we were all able to focus and continue our work. This is why we created a well polished piece with little or no mishaps when it came to the performance.

What did you contribute to the work?

I was able to contribute by generating lots of ideas. I always had ideas about what to do ad the group tried them even if they didn't work out to well. I also tried to motivate the group as much as I could by giving new ideas and working with breaks so that nobody got bored.

What did you find difficult about working in a group?

The most difficult thing was making sure everyone was always on task and always had all the right information, as everyone needed to know when to come to rehearsals etc. Also I found it quite difficult to know what people thought about what we were doing sometimes it was hard to know whether everyone thought that the way we were progressing was good or not. Overall the difficulties faced were minimal compared to how much the production was enjoyed.

Is there anything that you could have done to help make the group work better?

In order to make the group a better working unit, we could have been more associated with each other. If we had made an effort to contact each other out of school we may have been able to keep information more up to date and made sure that everyone knew what to do. This would have benefited the group, but I think the way that the group progressed on a whole was not too bad.
