This movie is something that everyone should watch if they are interested in mountain climbing. It can give you a lot of insight as to what you can expect if that is something you ever intend on doing. It will give you in-depth details of what the climbers went through on this expedition and really make you wonder what makes someone desire to do this sort of thing.
The names of the people that went on this particular IMAX expedition are David Breashears, from the USA, was the leader and film director, Jamling Norgay Sherpa, from India, was the deputy leader, Ed Viesturs, from the USA, was a climber, Araceli Segarra, from Spain, was a climber, Sumiyou Tsuzuki, from Japan, was a climber, Paula Barton Viesturs, from the USA, was the base camp manager, Audrey Salkeld, from U.K., was a journalist, Liz Cohen, from the USA, was the film production manager, Leisl Clark, from the USA, was the film producer and writer, Wongchu Sherpa, from Nepal, was a Sirdar, Jangbu Sherpa, from Nepal, was the lead camera Sherpa, and Roger Bilham, a science advisor and geophysicist with expert Himalayan.
There are some very interesting facts about Everest. Every year Everest grows about 1/4”. Climbers place stone monuments where other climbers have died. One hundred fifty climbers have died on Everest and one out of every three die from avalanches. The three most dangerous points on Everest are, Cumbu Ice Falls, Lhotse Face, and the Southeast Ridge. You can not ascend to fast because you will get adema, also known as altitude sickness. You have to stop at 22,000 feet for a few weeks to climatize and you must climb only a few hours a day. The Sherpa’s say if you fall into a crevice you will fall all the way to America. The reason
