Essay title: Great Enterntainers

There are Billions of Entertainers in this World, but only a handful of them can say that they are great entertainers. Many Athletes, Actors, Musicians, and Comedians only last a year in their line of work, or only have one successful year. Most Artists these days only sell Albums based on their sex appeal and not on the level of talent they have. A lot of Athletes gain exposure on one play that they made in their careers and then you never hear from them anymore. These are all examples of what great entertainers don’t do. To be a great entertainer the person must be out for a certain amount of time and they must be successful for 90% of that time. I found three people that fit this description. These people are Michael Jackson, Deion Sanders, and Larry King. These three people in some way have paved the way for our generation in their respective jobs.

Michael Jackson will go down in history as the greatest entertainer ever, because he was the triple threat. Michael Jackson could sing his heart out; he could dance until his legs fell off, and he could also act. He danced so good that his moves are still being used by R&B Artists today. The dance moves of omarion, Usher, MH, and even Justin Timberlake originated from him. That’s the kind of affect that his dancing has on our society today. Michael Jackson has sold Millions of Albums and he is well known not just in the United States, but all over the world. Many different types of people love him and his music is adored all over the world. People in Japan know him and his Albums are top seller over there in the present day. When I was in Haiti my whole family loved his music and we didn’t know what a word meant that he was singing. His music is so good that I could say that a majority of the world knows the first line of Thriller. That’s the kind of impact that his music had on people. That alone lets you know that he is a great entertainer. He is such a great entertainer that he revolutionized Pop music and made it what it is today. He also started a brand new style of dancing. He did his trademark dance the Moonwalk for the first time while performing Billie Jean in 1984. The dance was so good that he decided to make a movie off of it in four years later. Two years after the movie was released Sega made a Game for the dance. I don’t know of any artist that has made a movie of a dance to say the least for a game. You call Michael the greatest dancer of this Century, because there is no one in the game that is doing it like he did. Michael Jackson is a two time inductee into the Music Hall of Fame and he has sold over 750 millions units as a solo artist. The album thriller alone sold 60 millions and is still selling to this date. His concerts have been sold out ever since he was part of the Jackson 5 when he was 8. The song Thriller spent 37 weeks at number one while the album did 122 weeks on the Billboard chart. In 1984 he won eight Grammy’s, which is the most ever in a year by a single artist. He released 11 different albums and all of the sold at least 20 million copies. Not too many artists can make a third of the albums that he has made. Michael Jackson has had 20 of his songs go number one in both the United States and the U.K. He broke the color barrier on MTV in 1982. He was the first black artist to have regular airplay on that station. His Music Videos where miniature movies, because he detailed and he acted out his songs so good. His videos are also copied by artist of this generation, because the try to use the same platform he used. He has had cameos or starred in six different movies. The movies are Ghosts, The Wiz, Captain EO, Moonwalker, Men In Black 2, and Miss Cast Away. The thing that let people know that he is a great entertainer is when he got in trouble the whole world had his back. If Michael Jackson never existed I believe that there wouldn’t be a Chris Brown, Omarion, usher, Nsync and many other artists. He had that kind of impact on music. He has affected all these people through his music alone. Michael Jackson is not just a great entertainer he is an Icon.

Another great entertainer is Deion Sanders. Deion is a great entertainer, because he didn’t just do his thing on the Football field he also did it on the Baseball field. Deion is the one who started the pre-modana era in the NFL and he is also responsible for the league recruiting fast DB’s. Coming out of college Deion won the Jim Thorpe as the best Defensive Back in 1988. He ran the fastest time ever in the 40 yard dash by pacing a 4.17. He got drafted by the Atlanta Falcons during the 1989 NFL Draft and from then on he was known as Primetime. Playing both Wide Receiver and Corner Deion was used to scoring touchdowns, which led him to creating the biggest touchdown dance of that decade. Even though Deion couldn’t tackle a soul he had a great deal of impact on a game. He could shutdown half of the field and he was
