Essay title: Growing Up
As children grow up, they have many different views as to what they want to do as a career. Most children's minds change various times until they reach high school or even college. I had the dream of becoming an actress since kindergarten. Ever since I was a little girl, I loved to act. I began acting when I was 7 years old. My dream was to become to become rich and famous. I continued acting throughout elementary and middle school, until I reached my 10th grade of high school. Ironically, my entire life I have been a very shy person, and not very outgoing, but my love for drama and performing attracted me to becoming a movie star. I loved the rush of standing in front of an audience and letting myself go.
Once I reached high school, I got caught up in other things, and did not pursue acting. I also realized that the life of the rich and famous was not for me. I then decided I wanted to study Broadcasting Journalism, which is somewhat similar. I still wanted have the thrill of being on TV and be able to be a part of acting. I also loved to write, so I decided that majoring in Journalism would be something I would like to do.
One of my biggest role models has always been Oprah Winfrey. I am amazed at the person she is and all the amazing things she has accomplished throughout her life. I always dreamed of being like her and helping as many people as she has. She also studied Broadcasting Journalism, and ended up becoming one of the greatest women in history, as well as having her own talk show. This would be something I would love to accomplish in my life.
I went through high school with the aspirations of Broadcasting Journalism until the beginning of my senior year. Many people talked me out of becoming a broadcaster by telling me that it is a very strenuous career and competition is very high in that field. I then decided I wanted to stay in the Communications Major, but do something along the lines of Public Relations. I wanted to major in Journalism as well.
I was finally set as to what I wanted to do, until my first semester in Miami Dade College. I took a summer course that was called Psychology of Personal Effectiveness with Dr. Dominic Bruccato.
