Hewlett Packard render it services through seven business divisions: Personal system group (33.4% of the total revenues generated during fiscal year 2007), Imaging and printing group (26.8%), software (2.3%) and corporate investment (0.7%), Hewlett Packard services(15.7%), Hewlett Packard financial services(2.2%), enterprise storage and services(17.8%).
United States is the largest market for the Hewlett Packard which accounts for 33.4% of the total revenues in financial year 2007.
Hewlett Packard recorded an increased growth rate of 13.8%over 2006makes the companies revenues to $104286 millions during the fiscal year ended 2007. Operating profit stood at $8719million during 2007 at an increased growth of 32.9% over 2006. And finally the net profit of the company for the year ended 2007 stood at $ 7264million with an increase of 17.2%over 2006.
History of Hewlett Packard
Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard classmates of Stanford University founded Hewlett Packard in 1939. While Hewlett Packard began as a company that produce all sorts of electric products, later on in the early sixties they entered the computer market with the HP 2100 and the HP 1000. These played a major role and then they came with HP 2640 which was a grand success. Hewlett Packard was successful in marrying the technologies of measurement, computing and communication. They innovation started with oscillators' and went advances in portable computing, then enter the home computing market and continues to invent printing and imaging solutions. For most of the decade Hewlett Packard enjoys growth rate of 20%a year. Hewlett Packard is a company which is not grown over a night it is been growing since its establishment .lets see the Hewlett Packard growth since 1990 where it operations expanded to Japan.
In 1990 Hewlett Packard extended its operation to Japan and its revenues reached to $ 13.2 billion and employees went to 92000.
In 1991introdued colour desk jet 500 c, which creates a revolution in colour printing this made the customers to by an in expensive colour printing option .this model is a huge success.
In 1995 the Hewlett Packard pavilion computer makes the company successful entry in to home computing market.
In the year 2000 Hewlett Packard became the No: 13 company in fortune 500 companies and they simultaneously created a new business unit called Hewlett Packard services which includes It consulting , outsourcing, support, education and solution deployment.
On May 2002, Hewlett Packard completes the merger with Compaq and renamed in the New York stock exchange as HPQ.
In 2007, Hewlett Packard established research centres through out the developing economies.
Throughout 2007, a chain of acquisitions expands HP’s power in the printing, personal computing and software markets. HP acquires:
