Essay title: Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Hiroshima and Nagasaki

I chose the topic, "Hiroshima and Nagasaki" for my research paper. I chose this topic because I thought I could learn a lot from researching this topic. I already knew some things about what happened to Hiroshima and Nagasaki when they were hit with the atomic bombs. What I didn't know was how bad it really was and how much destruction was caused. That is why I chose to do my project on this topic.

What I found most interesting about the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the shear amount of power that the atomic bombs used had. I found out that the bombs used had the same amount of power as a bomb with 26 million pounds of explosives. That to me is an unbelievable amount of force for a single bomb to have. Another thing I found interesting was how hot the explosion was at ground zero. Apparently, the people that were near the places where the bombs went off were not only killed, they were completely vaporized as was almost everything else including buildings, cars, and anything else that was there.

What I found least interesting about the two bombings was that the two bombs that were dropped were only dropped when nobody thought anything else could end the war. I disagree that nothing else could have been done because there was no warning Japan that if they didn't surrender then the U.S. was going to use atomic bombs on them.
