How I Demonstrate My Freedom

My freedom is very important to me. Many brave men fought and lost their lives so that we can be free to do common things that we take for granted. We are very fortunate to live in a society where we can choose our way of life. Many people in different cultures, past and present, have had their way of life dictated to them one way or another. The freedoms that I hold most precious and that I am most thankful for are my freedom of religion, my freedom of accessibility, and my freedom of vocation.

To be able to worship whom I want, when I want, and where I want, is an aspect of my life that I hold very dearly. There have been times and places, and there still are, where people have not been as fortunate as I. I cannot imagine being told whom I must worship. To me, that is an inalienable freedom that should not be taken away. There are places around the world where people are forced to worship a god. There are soldiers that stand in churches monitoring every word that is said, making sure that the congregation abides by the national religion. The freedom of religion is so important because not every person has the same views, and it is not right to force something as sacred as religion on someone.

Another freedom that I am most grateful for is my freedom of accessibility. It disturbs me to think that at one time black people and white people had separate bathrooms, restaurants, schools, etc. Every person should have the same rights and should not be treated differently just because of the color of their, skin, their religion or anything of that sort.
