How Important an Education Can Be
The day that changed my life and made me realize I better go back to school and get my college education, was a day that altered my life forever.
I was working in a warehouse for a popular gourmet store called Citerella, in Manhattan. It was not one of the best jobs I’ve ever had, but at the time it had paid the bills. The hours were long, the work sweaty and dirty, but at least it was a Monday through Friday schedule and I could enjoy the weekends off. The warehouse itself was a dark, windowless faculty with not a decent ventilation system. The warehouse had a certain smell of mildew to it, which took me sometime to shake the smell of even when I was off and on my way home. If only the wealthy people of the Upper East Side who happened to be the clientele of this store knew about the conditions of this warehouse, I am sure they would not want to shop there.
There was an additional condition that existed that I failed to mention and that was the unceasing rodent problem. In the beginning of my employment at the warehouse it took some getting accustomed to seeing the occasional mouse scurrying around or stuck on a glue trap wiggling for its life. though, that was the day that the exterminator would come to pick up all the glue traps with the dead mice on them. That I thought was probably one his nastiest jobs.
Well the turning point for me at the warehouse and the day I realized that if I didn’t go back to school and further my education can be described as such.
