Human Rights

If you had to give a definition of ‘human rights’, what would it be? We who use the English language are blessed with the words 'allowing' and 'permission' to refer to a freedom of action granted by another person or persons. This helps emphasize the clear distinction of a right as being a freedom of action a person claims for himself. The article The Falling man brings up a lot of topics about human rights. As mentioned above I believe that the man who printed this article confused his rights with the man falling to his death. Yes, he does have freedom of speech but to let people witness this tragic event in this way to me is just wrong. Rights are negative in nature. My right to free speech does not override your rights. I cannot force you to not print this article in your newspaper. The government is here to prevent anyone from interfering with my right of free speech. But whose right is it to expose a man seemingly forced to jump to his death? Just because you have freedom of speech, does that give you the right to print out an extreme death that took place because of terrorism? What about this mans family and friends who have to see this?
