Essay title: Humanism
Humanism
First of all, we must understand the concept of humanism. What do people think when they hear something about humanism? Humanism is really about understanding the meaning of life. Humanist people claim that humanism is a sort of life which has no supernaturalism affects, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead meaningful by shaping our own lives. This definition is absolutely fair enough to understand the philosophy underlying humanism. If we want to extend the aspects of humanism, we may look at the movie which name is Elizabethtown certainly expressing the ideas of humanism with its performances of actors and actresses. This movie has spectacular example for seeing the humanism context easily. I am not a supporter of humanism, but I appreciate some strong ideas that really matters for human happiness and considers about dignity of people’s life in some extent. I strongly agree with the idea that focused upon human means for comprehending reality and pursuit of knowledge.
Man has an internal, natural, drive to become the best possible person he can be. This is the way human racism continues to the life. Humanism has got intensive points which named as self-actualization. Religious humanism considers the complete realization of human personality to be the end of man’s life seek its development ’’ (2). It means that man has basic, needs that have to be fulfilled in order to be free enough to feel the desire for the higher levels of realization. Expanding the idea, man has to realize his skills, dreams, desires, and ambitious. For instance in Elizabethtown, Drew is a talented shoe designer in a big company that earns lots of money each year. His life seems very comfortable when you watch the movie. Suddenly he heard that his father is dead. However, this incident made his mother to wake up and see the reality of live. This is the time that she will try to fulfill her dreams. She realized that she was living for nothing after her husband died. She wants to fix cars, goes to take some lessons for dance and tries to cook. This example proves that every human being would like to be a happy person, in addition to this; people can be happy if they achieve their real aims. Listen to your own tastes and find out who you are, what you are, what you like and don't like.
Do you think that all the people love their life? Another important thing in humanism is to realize that life is worth living. Loving life demonstrates that morality is a matter not of divine revelation or social convention or personal opinion. Tree of Life says that There is nothing ultimate or absolute beyond the living of life fully ’’ (14). Life is worth living because humanism supports the idea that there is no afterlife if you are a dead person. We have to share our lives within this world. Nothing can be more valuable than this life. The main purpose for living this life should be tasted in every moment for every individual. There is a clear example in the movie of Elizabethtown including the story of Drew. He tries to commit suicide because of loosing one billion dollars in the firm but cannot achieve it with the pitiful news coming from his sister. He wants to bury his father in their hometown. He met the other important character in the name of Ellen showed way to Drew how he can be a happy person in spite of fiasco in the company and death of his father. Ellen was a girl that life is really desirable and bright. She is the girl revealed Drew that every day is not same as other days, each day has a different and interesting tastes that he has to experience. She demonstrated him to that life is a long trip that we generally look at the same aspect. Therefore, she reminds him to the reality of life and says: You failed, you failed… ’’(Elizabethtown). Therefore, this situation helped him to understand
