Introduction
In the U.S.A. work is available in many methods. One major method that I used was through employment agencies. Here, I worked as a Data Entry Clerk at KPMG LLP in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey as a temporary for one month from the month of August 16th to September 14th, 2007. Employment agencies in the U.S.A. are agencies that find work for people in many different fields, for example: accounting, finance, administrative work, etc. There are employment agencies that put people in permanent positions and also in temporary positions. Most temporary positions do not require college educations, but only high school degrees. There might be some kinds of jobs that may require a Bachelor’s or a higher degree. These types of jobs are an entry into the workforce for people of all ages that are allowed to work and are in good health conditions and this will later make it easier for people to work full-time jobs in big companies or in better positions. Employment agencies provide many different kinds of human resource services to businesses and different kinds of state and governmental organizations. This type of industry has three distinct segments, which are employment placement agencies, temporary help services, and professional employer organizations. A regular employment agency has a relatively small, permanent staff usually fewer than ten workers, who interview many people and then pick the most appropriate or most qualified person that would be the best fit for the specific job position. Temporary help agencies employ many more workers than other agencies due to the absences and shortages of regular full-time employees. There are some times when temporary employment is needed because of seasonal and summer work since people then might go on vacations or there are holidays around that period of time and there is a big influx of people coming in and out or doing business at all times of the day. Some companies would rather use temporary workers to work on a full-time regular basis than higher regular full-time employees because then they would have to pay those employees higher salaries and better benefits. For this reason, temporaries sometimes are kept for a very long period of time. Most temporary full-time workers work a 40-hour-work week and there are some that work overtime and weekend hours depending on the contract, the type of work, or on an as needed basis which the company would ask employees if they can work overtime hours. Temporary services are best for students, people that want to explore new opportunities and careers, and for the people that want a permanent position in a specific field. These temporary positions are also good for people that want to take long vacations, have health problems, and for those that want to have flexible schedules due to family issues and family responsibilities. These types of jobs can be very good for students as well because sometimes, because sometimes they can help in their future by working as an intern for or at that company and maybe even later, they can actually start to build their career there on a full-time basis. The types of jobs that temporaries would usually work would be administrative work
