Essay title: Leadership

As the world progress different leaders are needed to handle our daily situations and look for our future. Most of the leaders discussed during class are successful for their character, inspiration, and their vision to change the future towards the better.

All jobs require a leader, however a leader in one industry may not be successful in another. For example, place Hitler or Hassan Nasrallah to be the president of the US. I am certain that due to his lack of education, clear vision and difference in goals that he would fail to lead. On the other hand if one would examine the leadership of the former Pope, he would still be a leader if he ruled the Vatican for another 100 years. This is due to the culture he is leading in spreading peace and help poverty. Furthermore, Leadership could emerge from someone that has a particular skill. For example, an engineer that has excellent technical and communication skills could be seen as a leader in his field and respected by his followers.

One leader that I really admire is the owner and CEO of my former company Modern Continental Inc. Les Marino, an Italian immigrant that grew up from a poor family and immigrated to the US, started his construction company in 1976 with a $4000 contract. By 1999 his company grew to almost 8000 employees and the nations 6 largest construction company. He had by far all the leadership characteristics that were discussed in class. Waking up everyday at 3:30 am for a 2-hour workout and off to check up on his farm then to his full day schedule, where part of his job to travel around the country and making sure all projects are profitable. By sunset he would invite everyone to his restaurant in Cambridge for a chat and a drink. Even though he was aggressive and demanding, he treated all his employees the way a father treats his children. His philosophy of his company was Love, Justice, discipline and respect. On Wednesdays he held a company wide meeting that everyone called "Church" and talked in front of 400 employees and a camera inspiring them for 45 minutes. On my first meeting I sat in
