Essay title: Life Change Experience
I was in the sixth grade when I first met my best friend Jamilex. Jamilex and I were really close, we did everything together; our homework, went to the movies, hung out in the park, and often went her house where we had conversations about guys. We tried to spend time together as often as possible, because we didn't see each other during school hours since she attended a different junior High school. We saw each other every day after school to do homework together. I never thought I would finally meet a true friend but you know what they say, "Never say Never". I tried to do my best to keep her happy and be there for her when she needed a shoulder to cry on. Jamilex and I were so different but at the same time so alike. Her favorite color was red, she was a people person, she loved cats, and most of all she loved nature. Jamilex enjoyed the smell of flowers, watching the crashing waves by the beach, and observing colorful butterflies. I, on the other hand am not really a people person because I am anti social, My favorite color is pink, I am not really a people person because I am sort of shy, and I hate cats but I love dogs. What we did have in common was that we were very both outgoing and kind. We also cared for others and enjoyed the same music and movies. Jamilex was more than a friend to me, she was my sister. A sister that my mom wasn't able to give me but that God did.
Years passed and Jamilex and I were still the best's friends ever. Then something tragic happened. Jamilex's mother died of a heart attack. They had a really close relationship, and when her mother died it was almost as if Jamilex's soul died with her but her body was still functioning. I honestly couldn't believe that the girl, who always told me that life is full of ups and downs and that in life everyone has to go through many obstacles, forgot how valuable life is and how life goes on. It was hard for me to tell her I understood what she was going through, because in reality I didn't. I never lost anyone I have never lost anyone I love.
After a while I noticed how the death of Jamilex's mother was affecting her. There was only a week before graduation when Jamilex decided to stop going to school. I was getting really worried about her, so I deiced to visit her to see how she was doing. When I went to her house her grandmother told me that she seemed really depressed and that she thought it would be a good idea to take her to a doctor. When I went inside Jamilex's room to see her it was almost as if she were a stranger, I barely recognized her. She was so pale and heart broken, that I was torn inside just seeing her in this condition, I felt so helpless, I didn't know what to do, or how to help her.
Jamilex never got to her graduation. Her grandmother and I took her to the doctor to try to help her. The doctor did a couple of tests, and a month later we found that she was diagnosed with cancer. Jamilex's grandmother and I didn't want to tell Jamilex because we felt it was going to make things worse. Three months had already passed form Jamilex's mothers death and it felt as if it was just yesterday. Jamilex
