Essay title: Liturature Impact

Literature has been around the human society for many years, yet there are some who do not appreciate reading and/or literature. It is no secret that literature is a source of power. That is why few countries ban the existence of literature. It does influence, guide, and help shape the people we become today as we continue our journey through life. Not to mention it has helped me get where I am now in life and will continue to guide me through out life but we ask ourselves: What is the real purpose behind learning to read?

Books have always fascinated me. As I was younger, I can remember how frustrated I was, not being able to read them. I would take a random book to my parents, open it and make things up. My parents would just nod their head and laugh. I knew I wasn’t actually reading the book, but since I was so eager to learn, I would make myself believe that I could. I always wondered what was hidden inside the books. Just like Guy Montag, I was curious what’s inside these books. What is it that gives us ‘power’?

As I grew older, I was finally able to read. I would read simple books such as Leo the Lion or The Berenstain Bears and enjoy them but never had the clue why reading these books were so important. Many times in elementary school I felt
