Essay title: Memento

Memento/Pulp Fiction

The two movies assigned for this week are Memento and Pulp Fiction. These two movies deal with crack plots. The two movies have awkward scene formats, whereas some movies follow the normal format of beginning, middle, and end, crack plot movies often do not have that. The movie may show you the ending first as in Memento, and then works backwards, or as in Pulp Fiction, may show a scene then follow it with a different scene explaining what may be going on in the previous scene.

In the movie Memento the crack in the plot is that it shows the ending first. It tells the viewer what has happened in the end then shows the scenes leading up to this part in a backwards fashion whereas the ending is actually the beginning. Its starts the movies with the main character Leonard Shelby (actor Guy Pierce) committing a crime but the viewer does not know why this has happened until the end of the movie. This is a highly enjoyable film that was done in excellent fashion and will have the viewer on the edge of their seat till the very last moment.

In the movie Pulp Fiction the crack plot is that the viewer does not truly understand exactly what is going on till it sees the following scene that explains what is going on. It also goes on a character basis the viewer may not understand the involvement of that particular character till they see the scenes explaining that character and how they
