How to connect a Motorola Modem using a USB cable to get Comcast high speed internet connection.
There are two ways to connect a computer to a cable modem to use Comcast high speed internet:
An Ethernet cable modem to an Ethernet port in a computer.
A USB cable modem to a USB port in a computer. Some modems can be connected only by Ethernet port. The following instructions are is for USB connections only.
Items needed for USB connection:
A USB cable, make sure you have a USB port in your computer.
A surge protected wall outlet.
An installation CD.
Installation Steps:
Follow the following steps carefully
Step 1
Connect the cable that is dedicated to the cable modem to the cable connector on the cable modem and then to the wall unit.
Step 2
Plug the modems power cord into a grounded, surge protected 110V AC household outlet.
Note: Most cable modems are "on" all the time and do not have a switch. If the modem has a power switch, turn on the modem, and wait for the modem to synch with the system. This may take several minutes. A modem will indicate when synchronization occurs.
Step 3
Insert the USB driver CD as prompted by the operating system, and follow the on-screen instructions as prompted.
Step 4
Plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port on the cable modem. Connect the other end of the USB
