Muslim Nation
 Muslims make up about 6% of the population of the United States and the majority of the conversions are in the African American community.
 Many converted African Americans view Christianity as “the white mans religion” and black must convert to Islam to recover their ethnic heritage.
 Once converted black Muslims views on the world changed:
 Said “ Christianity is a fool in the hands of the white slave masters to control the minds of black people.
 The only hope for black people is total separation and self-reliance.
 Men were drawn to the nation of Islam because of male dominance. Typical African American churches tend to be led by women with a central male figure.
 Islam may be seen as a way to redefine ones manhood.
 Men in the prisons convert to Islam not because of Allah but the brotherhood
 Qumran stresses unity and brotherhood.
 Many Muslims today believe black Muslims in society are judged by appearance and are stereotyped by the media, ex movies, talk shows, whatever the case maybe.
 Today black Muslims are just misunderstood. Say wrongful actions by a few Muslims are attributed to a whole population.

 My aunts personal reason for converting to Muslim was because of the teachings the religion actually show you how to be a better person other than just tell you.
