Opposites Attract

It's always been said: You can't choose the one you love.

A typical Friday night for a fourteen year old girl and I was headed to mall with my best friend Kim. It's just a regular trip to the mall for me, just to hang out with some friends and catch a movie.

My friend Kim and I get to the mall where she was going to meet her boyfriend Tod. I was supposed to be meeting my "boyfriend” there too, but he couldn't make it there that night. So Kim and I were hanging out shopping, talking girl talk and just walking around waiting for Tod to come. Then we finally met up with him and he tells us that he brought some friends with him so we went to meet them. On the way we ran into two girls we knew from school and they were with two of Tod friends who they just happened to have met walking through the mall. So everyone was pretty much coupled up, except me. After talking and walking around some more we headed to the arcade.

In the arcade I ran into another one of Tod friends, who I hadn't seen before, he knew who I was because I was with Kim. So he came up to me and asked "Am I supposed to talk to you,” meaning was he supposed to be trying to hook up with me. Now I took one look at this boy and I thought "Oh God no!" He was so not my type, he looked like a rough-neck to me. He was the typical bad boy and I was the girl next door, needless to say we were complete opposites of each other. Also at that point in my life I was just a little superficial and looks meant everything to me. I didn't think he was cute at all, and I wasn't interested in talking to him. So I simply said "I don't know" and walked away as fast as could. But then Kim tells me the soul purpose of Tod bringing him to the mall was to meet me and I thought to myself "you’re kidding right?" So not wanting to be rude I agreed to talk to him.

Now I and this boy never really spoke another word to each other. But Kim being my best friend filled me in on all she knew about him from Tod. His name was Matt, he was fifteen years old, from Newark New Jersey and he was spending the summer in Pennslayvania with
