Objective: To inform my audience of the dangers of steroid use and how it is becoming a growing societal problem.

Introduction

To start my speech I will use this attention getter:

• In light of the recent events surrounding pro-wrestler Chris Benoit and high-profile athletes, I decided to investigate Steroids further.

Next, I will convey my thesis statement to my audience to let them know why this speech is important to them.

• Steroid use should be a concern for everyone. Not only are bodybuilders and professional athletes using them, but they are now being used by everyone including kids in high school and junior high.

Body

The body of my speech will cover three main points.

1. Who uses steroids?

• Bodybuilders, Pro Athletes, fitness buffs, young people

i. Why pro athletes using steroids is a problem for all society.

ii. Why their use of steroids leads to children who idolize them wanting to use steroids.

iii. Why do kids want to do steroids?

iv. Why is it a problem that very visible profession athletes are using steroids to successfully better their careers?

• How easy is it to get steroids?
