Dear Editor,
I read the article about the view of “The youth of today” in Monday’s edition of the newspaper and I am writing in response to that article. I am a young person who is the age of 15 and I am not at all pleased with how the woman has judged and sterotyped most teenagers of todays soceity.
Firstly, there are a few teenagers that are like the woman stated. But the vast majority of teenagers are not like this, we all don’t just hang under bus shelters looking for trouble. Most of us socilize and have fun doing sports and leisure.
She also states teens are discriminating toward the way she looks, and she should think nothing of this as they don’t dress up really well, do they?.
The woman refers us to “ the youth of today”, is she stating all youths today, are like this? Consequently I can undoubtably say we aren’t all like this. She has no hard facts to prove her hypothosis. Plus every teenager is different so you cant say where all the same.
Also the woman is virtually saying all teens carry weapons, when she says “what if they had a knife”, I feel as if she’s paranoid as this is not surported by evidence. Evidence, suggests over 80% of knife crime is done by people over 16.
The woman also says she is a decent tax paying citizen, but in this country the majority of people pay tax. Furthermore aren’t these teenagers parents decent tax payers cause im sure they probably are. No one should feel threatened by anyone if they are tax payers or not.
She also refers to teenagers
