Platoon was a movie of the 1980's that focused on the Veitnam war. Platoon was written as an anti-war film, showing a lot of the negitive aspects of the war. Platoon was a special film because it shows all angles of the war. The film was written and directed by Oliver Stone, who fought in Vietnam. He had a dream to make a movie about the war that is not fictional but how he actual remembered the movie. This movie has a plot trying to eliminate the confusion and disorentation of the actual soldiers. The movie is narrated by a young soldier played by Charlie Sheen that was actually based on Stone himself.
Platoon is one of the greatest anti-war films of all time. It is a tale of God vs. Satan, and the war is there to set the backdrop.Platoon shows the Vietnam War was a big mistake, but by this movie being a fictional documentary on Vietnam it's for a purpose. The story is told from the point of view of Chris Taylor, played by Charlie Sheen, a kid who goes to Vietnam to do what he thinks is his patriotic duty.
