Propaganda

People throughout time were told what to think and how to go about things. In some cases they were told what they could listen or watch on there free time and all these instances were from propaganda. Propaganda is the usage of ideas and opinions by a group or individuals to influence people decision to favor the idea in which they are trying to get you to believe in. Propaganda is meant to change the way people understand an issue mostly through confusion rather than persuasion and understanding. Propaganda has been mighty weapon in war. During war propaganda is aimed at getting the enemy to believe what we tell them to create a false image in their mind. (Wikipedia)There’s a few ways to classify propaganda, there is white propaganda which is from an open identified source, black propaganda pretends to come from a friendly source but is from an adversary and last gray propaganda pretends to be from neutral source but is actually from an adversary. A few wars in which propaganda has been used to change a person perspective on that subject are Nazi Germany during World War two. Hitler used propaganda and had everything go through him before it went public, and in a more recent war in Afghanistan propaganda was used widely.

During world war Germany was ruled by Hitler and starting in 1933. During this war propaganda was used widely. All journalist writers, and artist were required to register with the ministry subordinate chambers. Broadcasters and journalist were required prior approval before their work was broadcast to make sure it lead the audience to believe the way Hitler ruled. Through this Hitler and other officials would send false information to there viewers known as the “big lie”(wikipedia). Through the war Hitler persuaded his people through propaganda to see the Americans as enemies and cowardly murders to get them to fight the war and believe in the holocaust. Some examples of propaganda during the war were telling the German people that they had no problems with France and Britain but their governments were trying to start a war with Germany, and all audiences were reminded of the greatness of German culture scientific and military achievements day after day (Calvin). Hitler used many forms of propaganda to try to get his people to believe his way of ruling. In the years of his ruling he persuaded many people in believing how he though Germany should be controlled showing that propaganda is a major weapon in times of war.

After the 9/11 attacks on USA we decided to go to war and invaded Afghanistan in 2001. As the war started psychological operations tactics (psyops) were sent to win the side of Afghanistan population and the Taliban force. In doing this America
