1. How can training in communication help you in a specific career choice? Being able to communicate effectively in the work place is something that every employee has not been trained to do. They may be good at their job but when it comes to communicating with employees it is not recommended. This is something that you can be recognized for in your job. Not only do you have what it takes to perform the job but you also are trained in communications.

2. How often do you communicate with people from another culture from your own? What are those cultures? I communicate with people of different cultures on a day to day basis. I live in a diverse neighborhood. I just moved to Ansonia from Bridgeport about 2 years ago and the cultures are about the same for the most part. In my neighborhood we have many cultures for example, Latino, Italian. Portuguese, West Indian, and African American.

3. When interacting with someone from another culture, do you ever notice any difference in their communication style. If so, can you describe the differences? I notices many differences in the way different cultures communicate. Some cultures like to talk with their hands. Many cultures look you in your eyes when they talk to you as a sign of respect , when other cultures believe that looking into another persons eyes is a sign of disrespect.

4. What do you this are the major differences between public speaking and private conversation. A private conversation is a less formal conversation that is most likely not planed. A conversation that a friend would have or a family at the dinner table. Public speaking is a presentation that has been plan and is presented in front of a group of people in a professional manor.

5. What do you find the most troubling when you are asked to speak before a group in public. I have always had a fear of speaking in front of people since I was very little. I always think I am going to forget what I am going to say and every one is going to laugh at me or as I’m walking up there I will trip on something and fall flat on my face. Its just the fear of standing in front of everyone and having everyone listening and looking at me. I don’t like all the attention on me.

1. What are the major considerations when selection a speech topic? When selecting a speech think about all of your personal interests you have, experiences, and convictions. Think of places you have visited of jobs you had. This can help you to select you speech topic. You can also use newspapers, magazines, reference books, or do a google search.

2. What are the four main methods for delivering a talk? What are the advantages and the disadvantages to each. 1. Reading from the manuscript can be an advantage if you are fully prepared, but the disadvantage is you may relay on the manuscript. 2 Reciting from the memory can be great because you will remember exactly what to say, but the disadvantage would be it will should boring because it is memorized. 3. Speaking impromptu gives you an advantage because you sound spontaneous, but at the same time the disadvantage is it encourages the speaker to ramble. 4.Using extemporaneous delivery you are aware of your presentation topic and purpose before hand.

3. Why is practicing a speech such a an important element to successful public speaking. When you practice your speech it will prepare you for the day you will have to give it. It will help you retain what you will be talking about,
