Essay title: Romeo and Juliet
The play Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays of all time. There are lots of movies based on the play and book. One movie based off the book is West Side Story. In West Side Story a young man named Tony falls in love with a Latino girl named Maria. The young couple get intimate with their relationship, but their family and friends strongly disapprove. Another updated version is “Romeo and Giulietta”. In this updated version Romeo meets Juliet at the Capulet Mansion costume party. Later that night Romeo sneaks back to the mansion to see her. They have s*x later and both die in the Capulet tomb.
In the 1996 updated movie of Romeo and Juliet Romeo two rival families (Montague’s & Capulet’s) have years of hate down the line. At a party thrown by the caplets the 2 children meet for the first time and fall quickly in love. They want to get married in secret very quickly, but they both end up getting killed in the Capulet tomb. This movie relates a lot to the play because the scenes in the movie did almost exactly what was written in the play. I liked the movie better because I was able to understand it because the plot was quite better and less confusing than the book. The scene when Romeo was at the party and met Juliet for the first time gave me a better idea what happened at the party.
