Self-Paper
All through my life I have been taught different things some I understood and some I did not. The older I got the more I understood some of them that is just part of growing up. But, in this Psychology class that I am taking at ECPI as helped more understand a lot of topics that I have heard about and wondered for a while. Plus has helped me understand some of my life experiences through time, what I have learned within myself, and how I will you this class in my challenges throughout the future.
I am only twenty one years old but I believe that I have been through a lot. I know that there are some young adults or kids that have been through more intense citations but I believe as a young child the more you see that is real the more it will help you in the future. Ever since I was a kid everybody tried to correct my grammar and vocabulary especially my father and grandmother. I now know it was for my own good, because according to the “innateness theory of language”, basically children at a young age Aguirre vocabulary and grammar skills not be only teachings but what there surroundings are applying and utilizing in grammar and vocabulary. So it is a good thing that is was pressured in my head and talked frequently throughout my child hood years. Also, when I was young I went through many death’s that were very close to me, and at one point I got very sad, but I was not the type of person to tell everyone my problems so I kept it to my self. The death’s ranged from close family member’s to teacher’s in high school that I looked up to very much, and some was old age and some were accidents or some would call a mistake. Now I know all that rage was basic anxiety which was being very lonely in the world and not knowing where to turn.
Throughout this course I have learned several things, a lot of myself and some about others and how the act and react to problems. One of my problems that is has just been noticed to me was after I graduated high school, I barely passed some of my hard classes to graduate, so I went to the doctor and he sent me to a psychologist for testing for attention deficit disorder and was diagnosed with ADD, and now I know that is was event-related potentials in the role of the stimuli in the brain and how the brain holds and disputes information or memory, which is part of the EEG pattern which can be seen through PET scans. After I was diagnosed my mother and sister were also diagnosed which made me believe that he was a heredity issue and that it should have been resolved at an earlier time. Also, I learned in this class that proper drug therapy, along with behavioral therapy can improve attention and diminish hyperactivity in a majority. Plus, in Psychology I learned that it was a fact that memory flaws in children are similar in parents also under the study of correlation of IQ scores with Generic Relationship (Plomin and DeFries, 1998)1.
I believe knowledge is power, the information you know the more useful you are as a
