Essay title: State of the Union 2007

On January 23, 2007, George W. Bush delivered the State of the Union Address with much eloquence. Of the many proposals regarding issues in our time today, a few of the most important ones are the proposals dealing with immigration, energy supply, and the War on Iraq. I think President Bush’s proposal for the issue of immigration is a good idea. To require a temporary worker program for illegal immigrants already in the United States is logical and seems to be the best proposal made by anyone in a long time. The only problem I think is whether or not it will work. Of course, there can be requirements for a temporary worker program for those immigrants here, but it could be possible many find a way around or out of it. I don’t think that doubling the size of our Border Patrol and funding new infrastructure is worth it though. If adding these new things were to make that big of a difference, that would mean our Border Patrol and infrastructure now barely does anything. Even if that is the case, people will find numerous other ways to get in and the funding that would be spent might just not be worth it. His ideas and concepts for saving energy and new ways of using ethanol-producing methods are plausible too. It seems that for a long time, many Americans were still under the unrealistic thought of being able to depend on oil forever without much worry, and now we’re actually taking steps to turn it around so we aren’t so dependent. About the War on Iraq, President Bush addresses that to win the war on terror we must take the fight to the enemy. Although I strongly agree with this statement,
