Direct contact- combination of presentation from memory and that of the current

Must reject Aristotelian (concreteness) & The Platonic understanding of universal ideas

Concepts come from sufficient data has been received

All humans have general conceptions

One another's precognitions will not contradict one another

Adaptations or application to a particular cases will differ

Hold that it is possible for a presentation to be false (that it does not correspond to an external object) For them, a presentation that apprehends an becomes the criterion of truth, whereas the non-apprehensive presentation is an error.

Two species of presentation (apprehending a real object & not)

Man and Horse=corporeal

Any specific content= not corporeal

God=no human shape

Being in conformity with nature is a virtue

Virtue=harmonious disposition choice worthy for its on sake, without hope or fear from and external motive

Virtuous-in harmony with one's self and the universe/god

intrinsically valuable and should be pursued for its own sake

Happiness is not the goal of the exercise of the human will, but it is, nonetheless, a by-product of living according to nature

Virtuous is sufficient for happiness

Happiness=separation from evil

Avoidant of poverty and illness is irrelevant to happiness

Wealth, fame, health, and strength don't contribute
