Essay title: Team Communication

Team Communication

This report is about the process of team communication. I will give a detailed profile about team communications within team dynamics. I will talk about how team dynamics and how they work, how team communication is essential in any organization or group, and how team communication needs to run within a group. It has already been established that the biggest hurdle that virtual teams will face is the communication between them. According to Beranek (2005), “a virtual environment fundamentally transforms the ways in which teams work. Virtual teams can form, apply diverse intellectual talent, and disband quickly and how well organizations manage this process can make the difference between success and failure. These new environmental characteristics make communication and collaboration even more critical to a team’s success.”

Team Dynamics

Team Dynamics are the hidden authority that administers in a team between various people or groups. Team Dynamics can certainly access how a team responds functions or performs, and the results of team dynamics that are often so perplex. Willingness to talk and share information and effectively presenting your point of view. This involves several factors: personal styles, trust that the information will not be used in a negative way, back off politics or believe that information is power that would inhibit sharing information, and effort on the part of the speaker to de-personalized issues that would otherwise create defensiveness. Sometimes, an “absence” of a natural force can also be a team dynamic (Wallace, 2004). This is where team communication comes into play.

Aspects of Team Communication

One of the biggest aspects of team communication is not the group itself but the people working within it. It is important that every person within a team be fully alert of their job duties and capableness. Adequate communication is always needed in any place of work. To work in a team it is vital that all team members agree with each other on a daily basis. Work groups alter in their workload, and in the way they are protected. Also people who make up the team each have needs that must be met in order to keep team efficiency. One way of looking at this is to analyze the features of a team; teams have a chance to speak out and should be able to do so. All teams need to listen to what is being said. No one will ever be put down for their continuing ideas to the group. Conflicts that develop are talked about without people getting mad. There will be rules that are made by each team member, the rules are adjustable and can easily be changed when agree upon. Every team member keeps to the set of rules; everyone understands and aims for the goal for the team. The workload within the team is shared accordingly. No one will dominate the team and try to make decisions for the team based on an agreement; everyone is prepared to accept what decision is made.

Listening in your Team

To be a good listener in your team, you need to become a good listener, there are several ways to become a active listener: ask other team members their opinions about a subject before you present yours, be organized; think things out before communicating, deal with one problem at a time, show curiosity in the other person’s views and thoughts, and present solid details instead of prevailing generalizations. A good listener listens to every thing that is being said by the other person. A lot people really do not know how to communicate. Instead, they just take turns talking, which sometimes gets no one, no where. Some people may behave like that are listening, but actually just try to think of the next thing that they want to say. If you shift the letters in the word LISTEN, you get the word, SILENT (Lee, 2004). Keeping quiet, both in the body and mind, is the best necessity for adequate listening that leads to everyone
