The bird I wish I still knew

When I look off my back porch I have one of the most beautiful views in the state of Texas. It is the place I go whenever I am having any sort of problems in my life. My porch over looks about two hundred acres of all different kinds of trees and wild animals such as deer, rabbits, armadillos, birds and snakes. Sometimes I go out on my back porch to just watch the animals roam around, sometimes I prefer to clear my mind, and sometimes I go out to my porch to work on my school work.

I see all sorts animals especially deer when I look hard enough. From whitetail deer to huge trophy bucks that make me wish it were always deer season. But most of the time as soon as they hear or smell me, they disappear in to the woods. I can remember one time out on my porch, I was working on a school paper, and a beautiful colored bird, to me it looked a rainbow, it flew up and landed about three feet away from me. I wanted to run inside and grab my camera, but I knew that in doing so I would make the small creature scared and it would most likely fly away. So I just sat there and watched the bird look around and enjoy the same view I had been enjoying for years. I noticed that the animal had blood on its left wing, and when I looked closer I was right. There was what looked to me like a small gash in the birds belly. However the bird didn’t seem to be in any sort of danger as it just sat there
