Essay title: The Company Therapist
I’ve always been interested in psychology, so this story interested me right from the start.
I began by clicking on the patients’ stories where it gave a brief overview of each patient the doctor has seen from the company. There are 35 different people described in this story. I decided to pick out one patient, Alex Rozzi. I went on to see his file and found out that he is involved in Juvenile prostitution and robbery at the age of 16. Alex has no current physical or psychological complaints, the only reason he is there is because he was ordered to see a therapist by Juvenile court judge. According to the therapist, Alex seems to be pretty intelligent and wise for his age. I continued on to the transcripts of Alex.
I started off by reading a letter to the therapist from his social worker, just to get a little more background information on Alex. The letter only reemphasized Alex’s already mentioned issues. I moved on to the 1st session they had and went through their conversation as it occurred. Alex discussed why he beat the man he had hospitalized and what kinds of weird things this man would have him do. Alex is also addicted to smoking and had a bit of trouble waiting until he left the office to light up.
I went on to read the doctor’s notes on this first session. He had a difficult time relating to him at first, not dealing with many children, but was put at ease when Alex tried to push his limits. The therapist concluded that Alex tells his stories without trying to sound like the innocent one, which he found to be very interesting, as do I. I think that makes him come off as though he isn’t sorry for anything and almost proud of what he has been
