Visiting the Bahamas is an one in a lifetime experience that all should be able to enjoy. Can you feel the warm sunshine as the majestic clear waters lap across your body. Can you imagine snorkeling in the reefs and coming face to face with the most beautiful tropical fish. Can you smell the mouth watering aroma of Bahamian rich cuisine. Can you imagine walking beautiful sandy beaches as the exotic perfumed air that belongs solely to the Bahamas rushes through your hair. Can you picture yourself dancing to upbeat live music along the waters with fun loving natives. Then the Bahamas is the place to be! The culture, the people, the aesthetic natural beauty, there is little wonder why people from all over the world are fascinated with the Bahamas.
The Bahamas are home to naturally formed breathtaking beaches. That range in color from sparkling white to romantic pink. With waters so cool, crisp, and clear you might be tempted to take a drink. In fact the Bahamas has the clearest water in the world with visibility of over 200 feet. The population has about 300,000 fun new people to meet. The Bahamas have a warm agreeable climate all year round. Ranging from a nice temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit to hot temperatures of 85 degrees and higher. Each island has its own geographical beauty that separates it from the next island. Because there are so many islands to visit island hopping is a fun way to do a variety With 700 islands surrounded by over 100,000 miles of ocean there are endless possibilities for adventure and fun.
There is much more to the Bahamas then its natural geographical beauty and warm climates. The Bahamas also have an interesting history in addition to its beauty. The Bahamas were named in 1492 by Christopher Columbus the first European visitor. Who after observing the water surrounding the islands stated the word, "Baja Mar" which means shallow water. Later the area was named Bahamas or the Islands of the Shallow Sea. The tenth century Lucayan Indians were the first to settle in the Bahamas, they were a peaceful group that were politically, religiously, and socially advanced. Columbus took advantage of there gentle nature and enslaved them no more then three years later.
Politically speaking the Bahamas also have a very interesting background as well. The constitution of the Bahamas are based on the Westminster Model; Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, The Executive Branch, The Legislative Branch, and Judicial Branch. The Bahamas has over 270 years of democratic rule making it one of the most politically stable countries in the world.
