Essay title: The Effects on Civil War

The Civil War had an effect on us. The Civil War was one of the most tragic wars in American history. More Americans died in this war then in all other wars combined. In this war we did not fight against other people, we fought brother against brother and the nation was torn apart. There are many reasons why this war took pace. Fist the nation was come together and then the southern states were not allowed to secede. Then the South was placed under military rule and divided into military districts. Southern states then had to apply for readmission to the Union. Then the Federal government proved itself supreme over the states. Basically this was a war over states rights and federalism and the winner had the power of the national government. The war also had an end to slavery. While slavery was not officially outlawed until the passage of the 13th amendment, the slaves were set free upon the end of the war.
