Essay title: The View of Women

One of the many issues that young women have to deal with as they enter young adult hood is that "mirror image" of what the beautiful girl is suppose to look like. Being a coach, I deal with many girls at that awkward and changing age, so when I came across this interest group I new I could benefit from it. This interest group is the "Academy for Eating Disorders" and was put together and organized by Craig Johnson, Ph.D. in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The organization begin in 1993 by thirty three researchers coming together to discuss the concerns of eating disorders and the treatment that should be provided for these women. "This group saw a need for an organization of eating disorders professionals that embodied excellence in education, treatment and research that could advocate for patients with eating disorders, provide professional training and development and, in general, represent the field of eating disorders." The organization was formed to meet the goals stated above and today the AED includes over 1000 members.

This interest group has many pros to the work they put into helping young women with eating disorders. First, the website is laid out with much information and details from describing eating disorders, from what an eating disorder is to how you as an individual might come to realization that’s what you have. Two, what I enjoyed most is the many avenues and areas that allowed people to get involved. Many can get involved by becoming a member themselves to just partaking
