To begin, Wayne Gretzky developed his love for hockey in his early years. He started playing when he was young. Wayne Gretzky was born January 26, 1961 in Brantford Ontario and his father Walter taught him all about hockey when he was little. Wayne Gretzky reputation as the best hockey player goes beyond his skating though, because he is know for his great community involvement. Gretzky later moved up to a stronger league and boarded with another family and played with kids twice his age and height (Dryden). When Gretzky turned eleven he scored 378 goals. Wayne also lead the NHL league in goal scoring and re-wrote the record book in the NHL league by the time he retired.
