Essay title: Wedding Crashers
Wedding Crashers
Wedding Crashers was the return of the “R” rated adult comedy movie, it was the sixth biggest grosser in 2005, it is a sex comedy about two men who crash weddings to meet single woman and deceive them to get them into bed. I believe the movie “Wedding Crashers” is against feminism. The two male characters treat women like sex objects to gain their need for sexual satisfaction. The movie stereotypes women to make them seem like sex objects, disregarding their personality and intelligence. I think the target audiences are men who are in their late 20s and early 30s that are successful and enjoy humorous adult comedy.
The movie revolves around the two main characters, John Beckwith and Jeremy Grey. John and Jeremy are both bachelor divorce negotiators in their late 20s and early 30s. By day they are divorce negotiators and wedding crashers by weekend. Their main goals are to meet woman and sleep with them without having to worry about their feelings, just fulfilling their own. At the beginning of the movie, Jeremy says “We’re going to have tons and tons of opportunities to meet gorgeous ladies that are so aroused by the thought of marriage that they’ll throw their inhibitions to the wind”. That is suggesting that women have no knowledge and shouldn’t have a say because they are looked upon by just how they look.
John and Jeremy are not committed to serious relationships, they like arriving as strangers to these events, becoming the life of the party. At one wedding Jeremy sees a woman and says “tattoo on the lower back, might as well be a bull’s-eye”. He is targeting this woman just because she has a tattoo on her back, he doesn’t know her personality yet but thinks as her as being easy and a sex symbol. John uses cheesy lines to trick and deceive women at the wedding. “You know how they say we only use ten percent of our brains; I think we only use ten percent of our hearts”, is one line he used on a lady. Telling them lies to get women in bed is showing that women would believe anything guys say and their not educated.
These days’ most modern men do not want to settle down with one woman for his rest of his life. He usually wants to be uncommitted to relationships and have no strings attached sex. This is what John and Jeremy are doing by crashing these weddings. They do not want to get out of the phase they were in as adolescence, because they do not want to grow up.
