Essay title: What Does the Bible Say About Homosexuality?
What does the Bible say about Homosexuality?
Sex is a creation of God, who pronounced all His creation "good"! Sexuality is not sinful. It is a wonderful part of God's plan. However, God put a limit on sex--only one: sex is meant to be enjoyed in the context of marriage...Unfortunately, these days we must be specific: Sex is to be enjoyed within the context of a marriage between a man and a woman.
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame. Genesis 2:24-25
Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Hebrews 13:4
If god had intended the human race to be fulfilled through both heterosexual and homosexual marriage, He would have designed our bodies to allow reproduction through both means and made both means of sexual intercourse healthy and natural. Homosexual anal intercourse (for example) carries a high risk of disease, this is recognized in scripture where gay men are said to receive in their bodies the due penalty for their error.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even the women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Romans 1:26-27
Paul later wrote:
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1Corinthians 6:9-10
All sex sins (promiscuity, adultery, homosexuality, prostitution, etc) are all sins because they do not conform to the limit of sex being a marital activity.
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery. Galatians 5:19 (Debauchery means: extreme indulgence in sensual pleasures; orgies.)
Sodom and Gomorrah was the first recorded people punished for their sexual perversion.
Before they had gone to bed, all men from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house. They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them." Genesis 19:4-5
Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. Jude 1:7
Further evidence in the scriptures states that homosexuality is "detestable".
Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable. Leviticus 18:23
If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. Leviticus 20:13
Nobody is 'born homosexual'. Homosexuality is a choice, not a genetic predisposition.
The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 1Corinthians 6:13b
However, every one of us is sinful and, yet, every one of us is loved by God.
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 1Corinthains 6:18
But homosexuality has
